VFX Financial is pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Gatrell, former CEO of Nutmeg, as a Board Advisor.
Matt brings more than 25 years of technology and leadership experience within financial services. Most recently, he served as CEO of Nutmeg, one of the UK’s leading digital wealth managers, following earlier roles as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer.
During his eight years at Nutmeg, Matt played a central role in the company’s growth and development as the business scaled substantially. He helped lead the business through its successful acquisition by J.P. Morgan in 2021. Following the acquisition, Matt led Nutmeg as CEO as it became J.P. Morgan Personal Investing, serving as a Managing Director in J.P. Morgan’s International Consumer Banking division.
Earlier in his career, Matt served as Chief Technology Officer at Neilson Financial Services, a global direct-to-consumer insurance provider. This breadth of experience gives him a valuable perspective spanning technology, operations and executive leadership within fast-growing, highly regulated financial services businesses.
As a Board Advisor, Matt will provide strategic guidance to VFX’s Board and leadership team as the company continues to scale its alternative banking platform, expand its capabilities and invest in the technology and infrastructure needed to serve increasingly sophisticated clients.
Henry Lisney, CEO of VFX Financial, said:
“Matt understands what it takes to build and scale a product-led financial services business in a highly regulated environment. His progression from CTO to COO and ultimately CEO gives him a particularly valuable perspective across technology, operations, customer experience and commercial strategy.
“As VFX enters its next phase of growth, Matt’s experience, insight and ability to challenge our thinking will be enormously valuable. We are delighted to welcome him as a Board Advisor.”
Matt Gatrell said:
“VFX has built an impressive business by combining strong technology with deep financial expertise to help organisations navigate complex financial challenges. I have been particularly struck by the ambition of the leadership team and the scale of the opportunity ahead.
“I’m delighted to be joining VFX as a Board Advisor and look forward to supporting Henry, the Board and the wider leadership team as the business continues to grow and develop.”
Matt’s appointment comes at an important stage in VFX’s journey. Having grown from a generalist FX provider into a comprehensive alternative banking and currency risk management business, VFX continues to broaden its offering and strengthen the infrastructure that supports its international clients.
Matt’s expertise will provide valuable support as VFX builds on this momentum and prepares for its next stage of growth.
